Luceplan suspension lamp

Mesh - Luceplan suspension lamp

A suspension lamp offering multiple lighting scenarios for personalized aesthetic and functional performance.
Based on experimentation with the potential of LEDs, a technology that permits separation into very small units, Mesh is a dramatic and highly innovative project .

Thanks to a wireless kit available for large (Ø 100) and medium (Ø 80) versions, users can play with the light by means of a smart device.
Luceplan has developed a special app (for iOS and Android) that makes it possible to control single or multiple units, individually or as a group.
The app permits use of one or more light points at a time, orienting light in space to create different moods and experiences.
The app can be programmed with 6 presets for rapid activation.
It is also possible to set up a dynamic scenario with a simple touch of the screen.
Using a local Internet connection, on-off functions can be programmed in remote access mode.

A lamp of great theatrical impact whose light, almost transparent structure composed of a network of metal cables with LED sources positioned at their intersections conceals the complexity of the design, dematerializing to make room for only the light, the true protagonist.
The particular structure permits exceptional freedom in the control of luminance: it is possible to govern the intensity of the light and to choose which sectors of the lamp to use, or , in the wireless version, to create personalized luminous settings.

Models and dimensions:

  • D86C551 Complete lamp -  ø 55 x H 55 cm (L cable 100 cm)
  • D86C555 Complete lamp -  ø 55 x H 55 cm (L cable 500 cm)

Recommended source:

  • LED 40W 2700K
  • Energy Efficiency Class (EEC): A
  • Source included
  • Dimmable phase cut

“I set out to create a lamp by starting with this capacity for spatial separation of LEDs, scattering them to optimize the spread of light, but above all with the aim of giving each of these points of light its own independence. I wanted to make a lamp that lets you control the position and the quantity of light, a flexible object to adapt to space and the needs of the user. To organize the breakdown of the luminous points I used parameters similar to those identified by Fibonacci in nature, like the arrangement of the seeds in a sunfl ower, the eye-shaped features of a male peacocks plumage, or the complex forms of a head of cabbage. A precise sequence that inspired me for the distribution of the lights in space.”  Francisco Gomez Paz

Read more about Luceplan

Founded in 1978, Luceplan cements the idea of three architects, Riccardo Sarfatti, Paolo Rizzatto and Sandra Severi who wished to consolidate the experience developed during their long-standing collaboration with Gino Sarfatti, founder of Arteluce. He was an experimenter and an acclaimed innovator in the sector of lighting fixtures. These are the noble roots, but the story we wish to relate does not follow a chronological sequence of events in the company's growth, but rather "highlights" constancies in its evolution. A history marked by well-defined constant factors from the very start: experimentation, research and quality, by a philosophy focused on creating "beautiful items for the public at large" and by an attitude, a discrete refinement that has never been lost over the years.

This is the mark left on lighting fixtures that have not been designed for short-lived wonder, but to be the natural outlet of a continuous, ongoing drive dedicated to the essence of each project, a great care for details and a constant improvement. This is the result of a consistent experimentation that implies a careful technological research.

Passion for design and entrepreneurial courage, are a Luceplan commitment, both with a considerable investment in production (the new trademark Elementi di Luceplan, a line of technical, architectural and contract lighting fixtures, was formed in 2006) and in marketing. It has opened new international branches (Copenhagen joins New York, Paris and Berlin) and more self-brand stores (there are three flagship stores in Milan, New York and Paris, and about 2,000 points of sale in the world).

On May 2010 Luceplan has become part of the Philips Lighting Consumer Luminaires business.
